Key events in 2018

In April 2018, FHfF became a community interest company, secured funding from the Tudor Trust to employ two part-time workers, and began the implementation of a two-year programme of activities identified by the series of public meetings held in 2017.

30 April CALL TO ACTION

A busy public meeting at Frome Town Hall that provided an overview of FHfF’s future plans, with group discussions to explore priorities and how to move forward, and to identify who’d like to be involved.

11 June OPEN MEETING FOR LANDLORDS

An informal meeting upstairs at the Three Swans to discuss and plan the development of the Frome Landlords Association, including identifying what issues were of most interest and concern.

5 July BRIEFING FOR COUNCILLORS

Seven councillors from Somerset County Council, Mendip District Council and Frome Town Council attended a meeting organized by FHfF to discuss shared concerns and how best to collaborate.

20 Sept COLDWEATHER CONSULATION MEETING

A well-attended consultation with local statutory and voluntary agencies working with homeless and/or vulnerable people about FHfF plans for Frome’s first coldweather shelter.

15 October PUBLIC MEETING ABOUT HOMELESSNESS

A presentation on what facilities exist in Frome for rough sleepers and about plans for the upcoming ‘Zero Nights’ coldweather shelter. The evening included a discussion about how each of us understand and respond to street homelessness.

3 December HOUSING AND HOMELESSNESS: FROME’S ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM

A public meeting at Frome Town Hall to present and discuss FHfF’s work during 2018, specifically:
Homelessness – an update on the Zero Nights coldweather shelter
Tenants and Landlords – the launch of the Frome Landlords Association; plans for working with tenants and lodgers
Building affordable homes – what opportunities are coming up?
